Chronic illness is no fun. If you're here, you already know that.

I’m Julia, and I've been living with chronic illness for more than a decade. My doctors are fantastic, my husband is beyond supportive, my friends are helpful and delightful, and it is still a struggle to get through every single day. This site is here to share the rants, resources, reviews, and ruminations I've created in my time as an angry invalid.

Sing a Song of Living with Chronic Illness!

Sing a Song of Living with Chronic Illness!

Everybody should know about Carla Ulbrich, one of the funniest singer-songwriters working today. And everybody living with chronic illness should definitely know about Carla Ulbrich, because she spins the straw of her experiences into comedy gold.

Her 2004 album Sick Humor might remind you of her fellow parodist Weird Al Yankovic, but the stories behind the songs are familiar to all too many of us. Somehow she manages to laugh through the pain, the indignity, and the absolute boredom of being a patient.

Carla has performed for medical conferences, patient advocacy groups, you name it. But like all of us, she’s more than a professional patient: she writes on lots of other topics as well, from pathological liars to dollar stores to bad breakups. Her most recent release, The Loud Album, is loud! And funny. And catchy.

If you want to see her live, her YouTube channel may be your best bet for the next little while. She’s fantastic.
