Chronic illness is no fun. If you're here, you already know that.

I’m Julia, and I've been living with chronic illness for more than a decade. My doctors are fantastic, my husband is beyond supportive, my friends are helpful and delightful, and it is still a struggle to get through every single day. This site is here to share the rants, resources, reviews, and ruminations I've created in my time as an angry invalid.

Restroom Finder Apps for Everyone

Restroom Finder Apps for Everyone

So many people living with chronic illness know the struggle of finding public restrooms (not that it’s easy for anybody!)

The National Association for Continence made a list of their favorite restroom finder apps earlier this year. It’s a pretty handy resource for people looking for restrooms in the US.

In Canada, Crohn’s and Colitis Canada has taken things a step further. They’ve launched an innovative project called the GoHere Washroom Access Program, which works in three ways: outreach to businesses and public spaces to expand restroom access; an app that’s regularly updated with restroom locations; and an ID card designed to address any challenges raised to people requiring restroom access.

I’d love to see the various US bowel disease and urinary disease organizations work together to do outreach to more businesses and public spaces to highlight the importance of restroom access, particularly for people living with illnesses that affect their continence. The ID card bit I would want to skip, though.

Let me know about restroom access apps and initiatives in other countries, and I’ll add them to this post!
