A recent column by Margaret Aranda, MD, for the Pain News Network, highlights some crucial omissions in the national and international debate about treating pain. Dr. Aranda has experienced both sides of the exam table; now living with medical challenges following a car accident, she has turned her attention to patient advocacy.
I think one of the challenges facing those of us living with pain, both acute and chronic, is that the voices of pain patients aren't represented in the ongoing discussion of "the opioid crisis." This needs to change, and advocates like Dr. Aranda have an important task ahead of them.
